Mumbai: WPL 2023 has started on just the second day and the tournament is already witnessing excellent performances. First Harmanpreet Kaur and Saika Ishaq showed their mettle for Mumbai Indians. Then Shefali Verma, Tara Norris and Meg Lanning wreaked havoc for Delhi Capitals. Now that player has also created panic, who was not even bought in the auction and was included as a replacement 24 hours ago. Gujarat Giants Kim Garth, the fast bowler who came in, is the player who has created this panic, that too in a single over.
On Sunday, March 5, in the third match of WPL, Gujarat Giants faced UP Warriors. Gujarat had got a crushing defeat a day earlier. In the very first match of the tournament, Mumbai Indians gave him a big blow by defeating him by 143 runs. In such a situation, only after 24 hours the team again took the field and this time some players were changed. One of them was Kim Garth, who was given a chance in the team.

3 world champions in one over
Batting first, Gujarat had scored 169 runs in 20 overs, after which the team came down to bowl. The 26-year-old Australian pacer Kim Garth started bowling for him. Garth conceded 7 runs in his first over but wreaked havoc in his second over. In this over, Garth single-handedly destroyed half of UP’s batting power.
On the very first ball of the over, Garth caught UP captain Alyssa Healy on her own ball in a powerful manner. Then in the same over, he also dismissed young batsman Shweta Sehrawat and on the last ball, he got rid of Tahlia McGrath, the number one batsman in the T20 rankings.
The fielding display from the @GujaratGiants has been absolutely magnificent tonight!

Second bowler to take 5 wickets
McGrath returned to the pavilion on her first ball without opening the account. In this way, Garth dealt with three T20 World Champions. Alyssa Healy and McGrath won the T20 World Cup for Australia with Garth only last week. On the other hand, Indian batsman Shweta won the Under-19 T20 World Cup in January itself and was also the highest run-scorer. She did not stop here and completed 5 wickets in her third over by taking 2 consecutive wickets. In this way, she became the second bowler to take 5 wickets in the tournament.
Entry in the team 24 hours in advance
By the way, Garth’s entry in the tournament was also no less than a dramatic style. Garth was not bought by any franchise in the auction held on 13 February. Then on March 4, when the first match of WPL took place and the Gujarat team was in the field, that is, 24 hours before Sunday’s match, he was included as a replacement for Deandra Dottin. Now, as soon as he arrived, Garth proved himself right in his decision to be elected. Garth left the Ireland team last year and started playing for Australia.
