New Delhi: The first champion team of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2023) has been announced. After a series of 22 matches in 23 days, Mumbai Indians won the first title of WPL. Mumbai, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, captured the championship by defeating Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets in the final held on Sunday, 26 March. With this, on one hand, Harmanpreet Kaur ended her losing streak against veteran Australian captain Meg Lanning of Delhi. At the same time, Nate Siver-Brunt, who was the star of this match, also took his old revenge from Lanning.
In the final played at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium, Delhi batted first and scored 131 runs in 20 overs by opening 9 wickets. In response, Mumbai won the title with the match by 7 wickets after losing 3 wickets in 19.3 overs. The star of Mumbai’s victory was England’s veteran all-rounder Nat Siever-Brunt, who was bought by Mumbai in the auction for Rs 3.20 crore and was the most expensive player of the team.
Match winning innings played in the final
Throughout the season, Siver-Brunt played a big role in helping Mumbai win sometimes with his bowling and sometimes with his batting. Even in the finals, when the team was in trouble, he showed his prowess with the bat. Mumbai had lost 2 wickets for just 23 runs, after which Siever-Brunt put on a fighting partnership of 72 runs with captain Harmanpreet Kaur to bring the team back to victory.
When Harmanpreet Kaur was run out, the team looked to be losing again but the English veteran held the front and made the team champion with a four in the last over. He played a fighting inning of 60 runs in 55 balls.
In this entire tournament, Nat Siever-Brunt scored 332 runs in 10 innings and was second only to Meg Lanning. He hit 3 half-centuries. Apart from this, he also contributed significantly by taking 10 wickets in 10 innings, while also taking 4 catches.,
That’s feeling!

world cup final pain
This victory was even more special for Nate Siver because he made his team the champion by playing a strong innings against the team captained by Meg Lanning in the final. Exactly one year ago, one such attempt of his did not work in front of Lanning. Australia won the title by defeating England in the final of the 2022 Women’s ODI World Cup held in New Zealand. In that final, Nate Siever tried to win the team by scoring an explosive century but it did not work.
