Mumbai defeated Delhi by 6 wickets on the basis of Rohit Sharma’s excellent half-century in a fluctuating match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In a thrilling contest that lasted till the last over, Mumbai’s two costliest players, Cameron Green and Tim David, shared a 30-run partnership in the last 19 balls to take the team to its first win. At the same time, Delhi had to face the fourth consecutive defeat.

Then only 5 runs were needed in the last over but Norkhia’s amazing yorker bowling made Mumbai sweat. Two runs were needed in the last ball and Tim David played the ball towards long off and ran for two runs. He saved himself and the team by taking a long dive.

Mumbai captain Rohit, who failed to score a single half-century in the IPL for the last two years, went ahead and implemented himself. After the team’s defeat in the last match against Chennai Super Kings, Rohit had said that the senior batsmen will have to take responsibility and it will start with them. Rohit did this and scored an excellent half-century in just 29 balls.

Rohit had expressed his intentions by hitting 14 runs in the first over itself. Rohit and Ishan Kishan made an explosive start of 73 runs in 7.3 overs for the first wicket. Rohit also got good support from Tilak Verma and both hit 68 runs in the next 8 overs to bring Mumbai to victory. Then in the 16th and 17th overs, the match turned around. In Mukesh Kumar’s over, Tilak Verma hit 16 runs with 3 consecutive boundaries but was dismissed on the fifth ball. And on the next ball, Suryakumar Yadav once again became the victim of a golden duck.

In the very next over, wicketkeeper Abhishek Porel took a tremendous catch of Rohit. From here Tim David and Cameron Green led the team to victory by falling. Delhi bowled tremendously in the last overs. In the 18th over, Pacer Enraki Norkhia gave only 6 runs, but in the 19th over, Green and David hit a six each.
