Bracewell in New Zealand’s Test team after 7 years

However, Doug Bracewell, 32, has now replaced Wagner. Bracewell played his last Test in the year 2016 against South Africa in Centurion. Since then he stayed away from Test cricket but continued to perform in domestic cricket. Bracewell’s struggle has again earned him a Test cricket ticket.

Bracewell, who made his Test debut in 2011, played 27 Tests for New Zealand, in which he took 72 wickets. New Zealand coach Gary Stead said, “We are disappointed with Neil Wagner being out injured.” He further said that “Bracewell is a capable bowler and he has also been seen in form in the current domestic season. Seeing these things of his, we have added him to the team for the next test.

Bracewell performs well in Test against Sri Lanka

His performance against Sri Lanka is also a major reason for Bracewell’s inclusion in the team for the second Test. Bracewell has taken 12 wickets in 5 Tests played against Sri Lanka between 2012 and 2015. In such a situation, it is expected that he will become a threat to Sri Lanka and prevent him from becoming an obstacle in the way of India in the race for the WTC final ticket.
