New Delhi: The situation regarding the arrival of the Pakistan cricket team for the ODI World Cup to be held in India has not been clear yet. Till some time ago, Pakistan, which threatened not to come to India, now seems to be realizing the reality. Not only is Pakistan ready to come to India for the World Cup, but it has also identified two cities where it wants to play all its matches.

There has been a dispute between the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Pakistan Cricket Board for the last few months regarding the tournament to be held in India in October-November. It started with the statement of BCCI Secretary Jai Shah for not sending the Indian team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. Since then PCB officials were also threatening to boycott the World Cup.

Pakistan’s eye on Kolkata and Chennai

Seeing that Pakistan’s threat has no effect on BCCI and ICC, now PCB seems to be kneeling down and ready to come to India and play. In a report by the news agency PTI, it has been told that in the 12 venues fixed for the World Cup, Pakistan has identified two cities where it would like to play all its matches. In the report, quoting ICC sources, it has been told that Pakistan would like to play all its 9 matches of the league stage only in Chennai and Kolkata.

According to the information, the officials of the Pakistani board are discussing this issue with an ICC official. Although the ICC and BCCI will decide which team will play where, but the Pakistani team would prefer to play all their matches only in Kolkata and Chennai. It is being said that the Pakistani team feels more secure in both the cities.

Why attachment to Kolkata and Chennai?

Pakistan played its match against India in the 2016 T20 World at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Although the match was to be held in Dharamshala, it was shifted to Kolkata due to security reasons. At the same time, Pakistan got a lot of love during the 1999 Test match in Chennai. In such a situation, Pakistan would like to play its matches in these two cities. However, it has also been told in the report that all this will also depend on the BCCI and the Government of India.
