Lahore: In the midst of political upheaval in Pakistan, the country’s famous T20 tournament, Pakistan Super League, has been in constant turmoil. First there was a dispute between the Punjab government and the Pakistan Cricket Board in Lahore and Rawalpindi over the payment. Then there was speculation about the possible arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Lahore, due to which questions were being raised on the organization of playoff matches. Now the final of the tournament itself has been directly affected and its date has to be changed.

PCB announced on Thursday, March 16 that the final of the eighth season of PSL will not be played on its scheduled date. The final match was to be played on Sunday, March 19, but now the Pakistani board has decided to change it. PCB has said that this final match will now be played a day earlier i.e. on Saturday, March 18.

That’s why the final date changed

However, there has been no change in the venue of the final and this title match will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. PCB gave this information in a press release. The board also informed that Sunday and Monday will be kept as reserve days for the finals.

As far as the reason for the change in the date of the final is concerned, the PCB has told that they had to take this decision due to the forecast of bad weather on the day of the final.

Who in front of Multan?

Playoff matches are currently being played in the PSL which started on February 13. In this, in the first playoff match held on Wednesday, former champion Multan Sultans made it to the third consecutive final by defeating the current champion Lahore Qalandars unilaterally. On Thursday, an eliminator match will be played between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi, whose winner will face Lahore Qalandars in the second eliminator on Friday, March 17. Only the winner of this match will face Multan in the final.
