Australia won the title for a record sixth time by defeating South Africa by 19 runs in the final played in Cape Town on Sunday 26 February. This was not only the sixth T20 World Cup title, but also the second hat-trick of these titles. ‘Every team fought hard’
Australian veteran Lanning, who himself won the T20 World Cup for the fourth time as captain, admitted after the victory that his team’s performance was not entirely good but the team put in a lot of effort. Lanning said,
This is a special team effort. All the teams gave us a tough fight but we are very proud. We thought it was a good score but we have to bowl well. It was not as good a performance as the semi-finals. We had to put pressure on South Africa.
Apart from Australia, no other team has won this title more than once. Australia had earlier won this title in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018 and 2020.

Australia took six wickets from Mooney’s 53-ball 74 not out, studded with nine fours and a six, and her 36 in the first wicket with Alyssa Healy (18) and 46 in the second with Ashley Gardner (29).
