PM Modi visited Bandipur National Park Safari on Sunday morning. They will reach Karnataka Open University in a short while. Here he will participate in the Golden Jubilee program organized on the completion of 50 years of the Tiger Project. Here, along with the announcement of IBCA, he will also issue a new census of tigers.
What is IBCA
India has taken the initiative of IBCA, this alliance will focus on preserving seven big cat species around the world. Tiger, lion, snow leopard, leopard, puma, jaguar and cheetah are important in these seven species. Along with taking effective steps to curb poaching and illegal wildlife trade of all these species, this alliance will also ensure how to increase their population. About 97 countries are expected to join this alliance. All these countries will make a common law and it will be monitored globally through an e-portal.
India will give 100 million dollar fund in 5 years
To make IBCA a success, India will provide a fund of more than US $ 100 million in the next five years. After five years, the countries which will be members of this alliance will have to pay membership fee and contribute to make IBCA successful. In this, a General Assembly which will form a seven-member council to lead the Alliance. This council will elect the Secretary General who will be the head of the IBCA.

The number of tigers has increased in India
The number of tigers in India is increasing continuously, according to statistics, there were 2226 tigers in the country in 2014, in the report of 2018, this figure had increased to 2967. Apart from this, there was also an increase in the population of leopards. In 2014, there were 7910 leopards in the country. In the report that came in 2018, this number had increased to 12852. Similarly, there was an increase in the population of lions in Gujarat, their population was 523 in 2015, which increased to 674 in 2020.
Bandipur National Park is very special
On completion of 50 years of Tiger Project, PM Modi visited Bandipur National Park on Sunday. This national park of South India is special in many ways, here there are such wildlife and flora which had reached the verge of extinction at some point of time. This National Park is one of the largest parks in the country. At the time of establishment, the area of this national park was 90 sq km, which was later increased to 873 sq km. This park comes under the border of both the states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
