America An influential parliamentarian has expressed concern over the frequent violations of human rights and democracy in Pakistan and asked the government to ensure freedom of expression and rule of law in the country. Brad Sherman, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, tweeted, there is concern about the increasing incidents of violence in Pakistan. In a video statement, Sherman reminded the government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of its obligation to act against human rights violators.

This video statement of Sherman was shared by a leader of ousted Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party. Sherman, a Democratic Party MP representing California’s 32nd parliamentary district, said, “We will not hesitate to raise our voice against human rights abuses.”

“Imran had a phone conversation”

Earlier, he tweeted that he spoke on the phone with Imran Khan and met Asif Mahmood, a Pakistani philanthropist and Democratic candidate running against Young Kim in the state’s 40th parliamentary district, Dawn newspaper reported. Sherman, who is seen standing with Mehmood in the video message, said the relationship between the US and Pakistan dates back to the 1940s, and over the years the two countries have worked together on a number of global and regional issues. He said, America should support democracy and human rights around the world and especially in Pakistan.
