New Delhi: Historical Women’s Premier League (WPL) has started and this start has been great. In the first two days of the tournament which started with only five teams, 3 matches were completed and all the teams have played one match each. The first double header took place on Sunday 5 March and with its end, the position of the points table has become clear for the first time. Mumbai Indians, who registered a huge win in the very first match of WPL, have topped the points table after the first matches of the season. On the other hand, Gujarat Giants are at the bottom with two consecutive defeats.
The first season of WPL started on Saturday, March 4 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai and in the very first match, Mumbai Indians made an explosive start by defeating Gujarat Giants by a one-sided margin of 143 runs. Then two matches were played on Sunday, in which the first match was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. Delhi defeated Bangalore by 60 runs in this match. After this, the next match was played between Gujarat and UP Warriors, in which UP defeated Gujarat by 3 wickets in a thrilling manner.

After the matches of the first round, the situation has also become clear in the points table. Mumbai, Delhi and UP have won their first matches and got 2-2 points. Nevertheless, Mumbai Indians, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, are in the first place and this is because of the huge difference in Net Runrate (NRR). With their 143-run win over Gujarat, Mumbai’s NRR (+) is 7.150, the highest among all five teams.
In the second place is Delhi Capitals with a run rate of (+) 3.000, while UP Warriors is in third place with (+) 0.374.
Who will win on Monday?
RCB and Gujarat are at the fourth and fifth position. Bangalore have lost one match, while Gujarat Giants have lost both their matches and have an NRR of (-) 3.765, which is the worst among all teams. Now on Monday, there will be a match between Mumbai and Bangalore, in which Bangalore will have a chance to open their account, while Mumbai would like to strengthen their position in the first place.
