Fours-sixes, wide ball drama and Gujarat’s defeat, breath stopped in the last over

Mumbai: Gujarat Giants had to face a one-sided defeat against Mumbai in their first match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). On Sunday, this team came out to play their second match and in front of them was the team of UP Warriors. This team was playing its first match. It was expected that Gujarat would open its account of victory in this match, and it had almost opened it, but UP snatched the victory from its mouth. This match had gone to Gujarat but the dice turned in the last over.

Batting first, Gujarat scored 169 runs losing six wickets in 20 overs with the help of Harleen Deol’s 46 runs. In the last over, UP achieved this target on the basis of Grace Harris’ stormy innings. In the last over, UP needed 19 runs to win. It is not easy to score so many runs in one over and that too in the last over, but Grace did it.

Exciting last over

There was a lot of movement in the last over. It was a dramatic over in a way. Annabel Sutherland had come to bowl this over. On his very first ball, Grace hit a six over deep midwicket. He bowled the next ball outside the off stump which was declared wide by the umpire. The Gujarat team was not happy with this decision and took a review in which the ball was found wide. Grace took two runs on the next ball. On the third ball, Grace put Gujarat in trouble by sending the ball over Sutherland’s head for four runs.

The next ball went empty again and this time the umpire did not give it a wide. UP took the review which was successful and this ball was declared wide. On the fourth ball, Grace played a shot on the covers and fielder Mansi Joshi, who was standing here, made a bad fielding, due to which the ball went for four runs and with this, Grace’s half-century was completed and UP’s victory was also confirmed. One run was needed on the last two balls. On the fifth ball, Grace hit a four and gave her team the victory.
