Dilshan-Tharanga pair overshadowed Kallis and Taylor, won the match 23 balls ago

Doha: Asia Lions won the second season of Legends League Cricket on the basis of brilliant innings by Upul Tharanga and Tillakaratne Dilshan.Asia Lions defeated World Giants by seven wickets in the final played on Monday. Batting first, the World Giants team scored 147 runs losing four wickets. The Asia Lions team achieved this target in 16.1 overs and won the title.

Upul Tharanga and Dilshan scored half-centuries for the Asia Lions team, while Jacques Kallis played a brilliant half-century innings for the World Giants and made a brilliant partnership with Ross Taylor to take the team out of a difficult situation and reach a respectable score.

Great start for Asia

Dilshan and Tharanga got their team off to a great start. Both batsmen shared a 115-run partnership for the first wicket. Brett Lee broke this partnership. He bowled Tharanga on the last ball of the 10th over. Tharanga faced 28 balls and hit five fours and three sixes. Samit Patel bowled the first ball of Dilshan’s 14th over and fell the second wicket of Asia Lions. He scored 58 runs in 42 balls with the help of eight fours. Abdul Razzaq was also dismissed on the last ball of the same over. He could score only three runs. After this, Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez played an unbeaten nine-run innings to win the team.

Kallis showed his strength

Earlier, World Giants captain Shane Watson won the toss and decided to bat first. However, the team did not get a good start. Morne Van Wick got out on the third ball of the second over. He could not even open the account even after playing seven balls. One ball later i.e. on the fifth ball, Captain Watson also returned to the pavilion without opening the account. Abdur Razzaq took the wickets of both of them. Sohail Tanveer ended the innings of 17 runs by Lendl Simmons.

After this Jacques Kallis and Ross Taylor took over the team. Both of them shared a partnership of 92 runs. Taylor got out on a total score of 111. He faced 33 balls in his innings and scored 32 runs with the help of three fours. Paul Collingwood retires hurt. Kallis remained unbeaten on 78 off 54 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes. Along with him, Samit Patel also remained unbeaten after scoring three runs. Razzaq took two wickets and Thisara Perera took one wicket for Asia Lions.
