Pakistan former prime minister of Imran Khan Did Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Most of the party leaders and workers were released on Saturday. After the order of the Lahore High Court, these leaders and activists were released in the Punjab province of Pakistan. He was arrested for participating in the mass arrest movement against the failure of the federal government.
Over 600 PTI leaders and workers were arrested last month for the party’s Jail Bharo Tehreek. This movement was against the violation of fundamental rights, misuse of the constitution and economic plight in the country.
Which leaders were released?
PTI vice-chairman and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, former finance minister Asad Umar, former Punjab governor Umar Sarfaraz Cheema, senator Azam Swati and Waleed Iqbal were among the prominent leaders released from jail. On Friday, on the petition of PTI, the Lahore High Court had ordered the immediate release of the leaders of the party.
Imran Khan also got interim bail
Earlier on Tuesday, Imran Khan got a big relief from the Islamabad High Court in the Toshakhana case, in which the court granted him interim bail. Earlier on Tuesday itself, the sessions court of Islamabad had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him, after which he had moved the High Court. Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal of the Sessions Court of Islamabad, who heard the case earlier, had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant while delivering the verdict.
After this, Imran Khan filed a petition for bail in the Islamabad High Court challenging the decision of the sessions court. While giving the verdict on this, the High Court had given interim bail to Imran Khan. Apart from this, Imran Khan was also granted interim bail by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) and the Banking Court on Tuesday after appearing in the judicial premises. He got this bail in the cases of prohibited money and terrorism filed against him.
