Aashirwad Initiative Allocates Rs 75.48 Lakh for 372 Pending Cases Over a Decade

Punjab News: According to Dr. Baljit Kaur, minister of social justice, empowerment, and minorities, the Punjab government has approved spending of Rs 75.48 lakh to pad 372 instances over the course of the last 10 years under the Aashirwad initiative. The minister claimed that the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes was a top priority for the Punjabi government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Expansion of Benefits under the Scheduled Caste Blessing Scheme

Dr. Baljit Kaur, the minister for social justice, empowerment, and minorities, provided more details in this regard, stating that the Scheduled Caste Blessing Scheme provided 307 benefits in 17 districts between 2011–12 and 2012–13 and 2015–16 and 2020–21. A cost of Rs. 62.13 lakh has been authorised. Likewise, it has been approved to spend Rs 13.35 lakh on 65 Backward Classes Ashirwad Yojana cases spread over 14 districts. Dr. Baljit Kaur, minister of social justice, empowerment, and minorities, said that past administrations failed to provide the beneficiaries with this sum on schedule. This money will now be released by the Punjab administration, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and the outstanding cases will shortly be resolved.

Eligibility Criteria and Benefits of the Ashirwad Yojana

According to the cabinet minister, in order to qualify for the Ashirwad Yojana, a family member must be a permanent resident of Punjab state, live in poverty, or be a member of a scheduled caste or other economically disadvantaged group. Two daughters of such a family may benefit from this programme if the total annual income from Sadhna for all family members is less than Rs 32,790. According to Dr. Baljit Kaur, the state government offers financial assistance to girls from low-income households in the state who wish to marry via the Aashirwad initiative. He said that the recipients’ bank accounts are used to deposit financial aid payments.
