Union Minister Annapurna gave information on Out of School Children in the Lok Sabha. Uttar Pradesh has the maximum number of OoSC children at the elementary level, followed by Bihar and Gujarat. About 3.96 children are out of schools in UP.

Girls more than boys in OoSC Report

The figures presented in the Lok Sabha are very shocking. Union Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi told the Lok Sabha in a written reply that 9,30,531 children are out of school at the primary level, including 5.02 lakh boys and 4.27 lakh girls. Uttar Pradesh has 3.96 lakh children out of school, followed by 1.34 lakh in Bihar and 1.06 lakh in Gujarat.

Out of school children survey has been done in all the states and union territories under the Samagra Shiksha Yojana. The Union Minister said that an online module has been developed on the PRABANDH portal for compiling the data identified by each State and Union Territory and mapping them with Special Training Centers (STCs).

MP Rajeev Pratap Rudy had asked the government for information about school dropouts in the past. Giving information on the literacy rate in the country, Annapurna Devi said that Bihar has the lowest literacy rate of 61.8%. At the same time, the highest literacy rate of 94 percent has been seen in Kerala. Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka have also been included in the states with low literacy.
