Pakistan has given ‘Pakistani citizenship’ to 159 Indians out of 214 foreigners in the last five years. The Ministry of Home Affairs has granted Pakistani citizenship to 214 foreigners during the last five years for various reasons, including marriage, family ties, etc. Official documents revealed that 214 foreigners were given Pakistani citizenship in the last five years. According to the documents, 159 Indians were given Pakistani citizenship, along with 55 citizens of other countries.
The documents show that two Indians were given Pakistani citizenship last month, while 55 were given Pakistani citizenship in 2019, 43 in 2018, 27 in 2020 and 2021 and 18 last year. He also revealed that thousands of applications are still pending with the ministry for approval. Officials said citizenship was granted on the basis of marriage, family ties, profession or long stay in Pakistan.

Citizens of these countries also got citizenship of Pakistan
The documents further revealed that Pakistani authorities granted citizenship to four Afghans in 2022, one in 2021, three in 2020, two in 2019 and one in 2018. Three Chinese nationals were also granted Pakistani nationality in the last five years, while four Bangladeshis, one Italian, one Swiss, three Americans, two Canadians and four British nationals were granted Pakistani nationality during this period. At the same time, more than 20 citizens of Burma, Philippine, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal have also got Pakistani nationality in the same period.
Pakistanis ahead in taking Indian citizenship
At the same time, let us tell you that last year, RTI activist Zeeshan Haider had filed an RTI in the Union Home Ministry, in which he had reached how many citizens of different countries around the world have taken Indian citizenship from 2015 to February 2020. Giving information on this, the Foreign Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs had told that in 6 years, 19,034 citizens of 56 countries took the citizenship of India. Of these, the maximum number of 2838 citizens were from Pakistan.
